Sumo Digital appear to have taken over the reigns for the development of Little Big Planet 3. The UK based company are teh developers of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
VG24/7 have been informed that Sony and former series developer Media Molecule approached Sumo Digital to create the third major entity in the franchise, and the game has reportedly been in development "for well over a year".
While this is just a rumour at the moment it could very well turn out to be a founded truth. Sony have declined to comment, saying that they do not reply to rumours and speculation.
