Minecraft used to aid UN regeneration projects

Whoever said games can't be used for uses other than entertainment? Minecraft is being used to model 300 places across the globe for a project called Block for Block. Urban locations are being made so that residents can take a virtual tour, see what the area will be like and even influence how the regeneration cash will be sent. The first part to be modelled as a pilot was a Undugu Playground - part of the Kibera slum region on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Hopefully there will be 300 areas modelled by 2016, which will allow people to have more of a say in how their locale will change.

Keep an eyeout for more updates!

I've played games for pretty much as long as I can remember, hoping to one day turn my love into a career. I'm in my final Masters year of University while writing for VGU, I love the design and production management type stuff and I will happily try any game at least once!
