Attention racers! Mario Kart is set to return to the arcades, with underwater levels and gliders that were featured in Mario Kart 7.
Namco Bandai revealed that Mario Kart DX will have four modes: Grand Prix, Battle Mode, Team Co-op (where players team up against CPU drivers) and Alter Ego, a new mode where players race against the stored ghost data of others across the country through an online network. The modes will be playable across "10 redesigned courses" that will feature more than 100 items.
One item in particular is said to combine a team's two kart into one causing more mayhem. Similar to Mario Kart Double Dash mechanics, one player will have control of the driving and other is responsible for items. Also a shield will be introduced to deflect attacks from other players or CPU. Will it be strong enough to withstand the power of the infamous blue shell?
A character cameo has also been mentioned along with a level dedicated to it- this time its the mascot from Taiko Drum Master franchise. You can also take a picture of yourself in a silly hat before racing, just like in the previous Mario Kart release to the arcades.
Unfortunately Mario Kart DX has only been annouced for Japan right now, so fingers crossed it will get a release over here. Looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments.
